Once the brewing method is decided, the
question of "to grind or not to grind, and if so, what grind is
necessary?" can be answered. The ultimate question is then "Can the
magic of the moment last, can the coffee be maintained as fresh as it
was brewed, until it is finished?"
This question is perhaps the easiest to
answer because it has been discovered that hot coffee stored in a
preheated vacuum flask will taste good far longer than that kept hot by
any other method.
Nothing last forever, and the fresh
flavor may very gradually deteriorate, but the coffee is not being
heated up and cooled down and heated up again, which is what happens to
the coffee molecules in a jug (carafe) on a hotplate.
